What led you to F3, and how did your first post challenge you or inspire you in unexpected ways? and how did you get your F3 nickname?
My brother-in-law introduced me to it when I visited him in Kingwood, Texas. He had been involved with F3 for a couple of years and said he thought I’d love it. He was right.
My first few posts at The Bridge definitely challenged me physically. I would think the night before, “I hope I can make it through tomorrow’s workout. Those guys are serious.” But, the dudes at The Bridge (Disco, Aaaayyyy, Notorious ATX, Vespa, Catfish, etc.) were so supportive.
My brother-in-law’s AO named me. I’m in the semiconductor industry – so, Semihard.
What impact has F3 had on your life, and what lessons or moments stand out as defining your journey?
F3 has been nothing short of life changing. The group of dudes I get to be with at The Bridge and The Sting are funny, hard-working, supportive, smart, and caring. We have had serious discussions, supported each other, had fun during the workouts and in the wild, and challenged each other to be better.
Some of the most memorable lessons from the guys I’ve gotten to work out with have been:
Do hard things. (thank you, Big Short)
The ‘6’ is a place of honor since he’s the man who is coming out knowing he will likely be the worst at what we’re doing but he’s out here anyway so he can get better. What are you not doing because you know you’ll be the ‘6’?
You will get strange looks from joggers if the ten of you are doing monkey humpers on the pedestrian bridge that goes across Town Lake at 6am.
What’s been the hardest challenge you’ve faced—either in life or in F3—and what did it teach you about perseverance?
Being a Dad has taught me that I will fail more times than I care to admit but that I can only get back up and keep trying. Showing up and trying are pretty friggin’ important.
